Next Level Surgical Center of the University Hospital, Hradec Králové
The goal of the proposal is for the extension to form a unified complex with the existing surgical building and the Emergency and Internal Medicine pavilions. Its scale and welcoming architecture will complement rather than compete with the existing structures.

Traditional materials have been chosen to emphasize the building's significance while also creating a sense of warmth and familiarity. A clear volumetric concept supports the pedestrian axis running through the internal medicine area, with space between the internal medicine, surgery, and oncology buildings being transformed into a relaxation zone. Established patient and staff circulation routes, which have been in use since the construction of the Internal Medicine and Emergency buildings, will be preserved and enhanced.
A new main entrance to the surgical center (CHC) will be located on the southern side, providing a spacious forecourt with multiple functions and connections to parking and a new bus stop. A newly designed access road will help alleviate congestion at the existing entrance, evenly distributing patient flow between two access points. The new five-story building will accommodate four inpatient units per floor, offering a flexible and cost-effective solution that allows for different clinical configurations, better resource sharing, and even potential future expansion.
