Operating Rooms of the Ophthalmology Clinic, Masaryk Hospital, Ústí nad Labem
The proposed solution utilized part of the existing Internal Medicine pavilion, incorporating the heating station building for an additional level. Raising the station’s lower section improved its proportions relative to the six-story building. The new facades of the operating rooms enhanced the hospital's entrance area.
The operating room extension exceeded the heating station’s footprint, necessitating a unified facade system. The second floor features a ventilated facade, while the first floor has a decorative screen wall. The original buildings, constructed during a period of simpler architecture, gained a dynamic and symbolic new appearance, clearly signaling the ophthalmology department’s function. This design helped patients and staff easily identify the facility. The uniform facade system across all floors and connecting bridges ensured a cohesive appearance. The interior color scheme was light and pastel, with each department having its own distinctive color.
