Reconstruction of the Monoblock Building, Regional Hospital, Kladno

The architectural design of the monoblock’s exterior respects the original character of the building, which is one of the city's significant functionalist structures. The reconstruction was inspired by the functionalist spirit of the original building, with an emphasis on maintaining a unified appearance for all new elements and extensions, ensuring the entire composition forms a harmonious whole.

One of the main unifying elements is the use of horizontal louvers, which appear in various locations on the façades, including on the newly added rooftop machine rooms. These machine rooms are clad with louvered grating panels, reinforcing their technical appearance.

The façade renovation respects the character of the hospital building. As a prominent 20th-century structure with dominant façades, the existing monoblock requires a sensitive approach to color selection. The new façade colors and elements are inspired by the building’s original appearance while seamlessly integrating with the acute medical center.

The goal of the reconstruction is to ensure the long-term functionality of the hospital as a regional healthcare facility, capable of providing essential medical services in the future. The overall design is based on several key ideas that have remained consistent despite changes in the reconstruction's scope.
